Why Certify Your Carbon Project With Us?

Since 2002, we have commissioned millions of tonnes of carbon from over 50 low-carbon projects in 20 countries, including projects in renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management, and forestry.

With this experience we guide project developers all the way from project inception to feasibility assessments, verification and in the issuing of carbon credits.

  • Experienced carbon certification team with the technical, commercial and financial know-how to ensure that projects are viable and sustainable
  • Large client base and reputation means we can offer you highly attractive terms for your carbon credits
  • Flexible service which meets your specific project needs. Payments can be structured as either fixed-fee or a share of the carbon offset credit proceeds.
  • Ability to purchase large volumes of credits, allowing you to realise faster returns on your investment
  • Financing of carbon related management costs, such as PDD development, validation and registration fees (depending on the risk profile of the project).

Carbon Feasibility Assessment

A carbon offset project refers to any activity that receives carbon revenue through the sale of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions (carbon credits or carbon offsets) that result from the project. To qualify as a formal offset project and claim carbon credits, a number of steps need to be taken, known as the “carbon project cycle”.

As an initial guide, a feasible offset project is likely to:

  • Reduce or avoid greenhouse gas emissions below a “business as usual” baseline;
  • Demonstrate “additionality”, showing that the project would not happen without the expectation of carbon finance;
  • Include a rigorous monitoring system that will withstand independent, third-party verification;
  • Demonstrate active community consultation

There are several ways to certify a carbon credit project. It is important to gain a full understanding of all the options in order to extract the most value of the underlying carbon asset.

Furthermore, if your project is located in South Africa, it could be eligible to participate in the South African Carbon Tax & Offset scheme. We can assist you in determining whether your project is eligible and can benefit from carbon revenue. Click here to submit your project for carbon viability assessment.

PDD Development & Project Cycle Support

Climate Neutral Group can prepare the required carbon project documentation in accordance with the rules and standards of the VCS or Gold Standard. This includes completing a baseline study, developing a Monitoring and Verification Plan (MVP) and developing a Project Idea Note (PIN) and Project Design Document (PDD).

The most important part of your carbon offset project cycle is the validation of the PDD and verification of the emission reductions by independent third parties. In addition, the project will need to be registered with the VCS or Gold Standard. After successful registration of the project we offer ongoing support for monitoring, verification and issuance of the carbon credits.

Carbon Credit Purchase

Climate Neutral Group offers highly attractive terms to owners of carbon offset projects that are registered under CDM, VCS (Verra) or Gold Standard, and to any owners of yet to be registered projects. The carbon credit terms we offer our clients depend on the characteristics of their projects, such as size, maturity and reliability of carbon offset generation.

We are particularly interested in South African offset projects that are eligible under the South African carbon tax, especially those projects that are already registered under the above- mentioned carbon standards and that can deliver carbon credits in 2021 and beyond. We are able to offer a competitive fixed price per offset paid upon delivery to our international or South African registry account. Related carbon verification costs can be covered by Climate Neutral Group.
