Marketing Manager

(full time – mid to senior level position)

based in Cape Town, South Africa

Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled Marketing Manager with a background in B2B marketing, particularly in the fields of carbon, sustainability, and/or banking sector. The ideal candidate will spearhead the development, implementation, and management of marketing campaigns aimed at educating the local market about our business, promoting our products and services, and enhancing brand awareness. This role requires collaboration with global marketing teams to align campaigns and ensure consistency in messaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, implement, and manage marketing campaigns tailored to the local market to educate and promote the organisation’s offerings.
  2. Promote local events, thought-leadership content, and core offerings while aligning with global marketing campaigns.
  3. Create engaging and relevant content, including but not limited to white papers, brochures, blog posts, factsheets, company reports and visually strong infographics, videos and campaigns.
  4. Manage social media content to resonate with the target audience and convey the brand’s message effectively.
  5. Utilise WordPress to publish articles and make necessary updates to the website.
  6. Understand SEO techniques which improve search engine rankings (keyword research, on-page optimisation, and link building).
  7. Utilise various digital marketing channels such as SEO, PPC, social media, email marketing, and display advertising to optimise lead generation.
  8. Manage local incoming leads and marketing inboxes, responding promptly and professionally.
  9. Create direct emailers and newsletters using tools like MailChimp to engage with customers effectively.
  10. Utilise marketing automation tools to streamline processes and optimise efficiency (previous experience with HubSpot and Monday.com beneficial).
  11. Analyse marketing data and performance and report back to local and global teams.
  12. Demonstrate strong project management skills to ensure campaigns are executed effectively and on time.
  13. Collaborate closely with the sales/commercial team to optimise CRM systems and processes.
  14. Collaborate and consult with the Carbon Project Development Team on stakeholder engagement and project progress communications.
  15. Arrange and manage small to medium-sized local events, ensuring seamless execution.
  16. Deliver the marketing plan on time and on budget.
  17. Previous experience in the carbon / climate / sustainability sector is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Digital Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in marketing, with a focus on B2B marketing with a background in carbon, sustainability, environmental or banking sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to distil science-based information and environmental topics into clear, effective and understandable messaging.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing channels and techniques.
  • Proficiency in marketing automation tools.
  • Analytical skills and experience with websites, and web analytics tools.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience in managing small to medium-sized events and projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with different teams within the business – both locally and internationally.
